A long plane ride often results in irrational behaviour – in my case, I ended up watching two “recent” movies that I would definitely not have watched otherwise.
Chandni Chowk to China appeared to be a typical desi movie crossed with a Chinese movie. Some of the slapstick comedy was funny and I laughed too (despite not being inebriated). Here is a paraphrased conversation that took place afterwards (sheds light on why movies and I operate on mutually exclusive wavelengths):
Porcupyn (P): Guess which movie I watched?
Porcupyn’s wife (PW) and bro-in-law (BIL): Which one?
P: From Chandni Chowk to China. Totally timepass movie, worth watching (though I definitely would not watch it).
PW and PIL: So he says … after watching the movie.
P: The movie was about a desi girl and a chinese girl, who were supposed to have been long lost twins. BTW, it starred Deepika Padukone.
BIL: I heard she had a double role in the movie.
P: Oh, did she? That explains it! I could never tell it was a double role. In fact, while watching the movie, I was wondering how folks could even see any resemblance between the desi girl and her supposed twin chinese girl?!!
With both driver (BIL) and his sidekick (PW) performing ROTFLs, it was only BIL’s excellent driving skills and the lack of traffic at that unearthly hour that prevented an accident!!
